Honda True Adventure - CRF1000L - New Africa Twin

Stond niet in Utrecht...

Ik heb het juiste kleurenschema van de nieuwe true adventure gezien... (rood wit blauw)

En heb jij daar geen foto van gemaakt?

Stond niet in Utrecht...

Ik heb zowat elke Honda medewerker op de stand gevraagd waar de True Adventure stond, kon het niet geloven dat hij er niet stond. Een aantal medewerkers wist niet eens waar ik het over had. Wat een misser van Honda Benelux.

Het is onbegrijpelijk, als Honda een twin uitbrengt met ~80 PK, <160 kilo, en het uiterlijk van het getoonde apparaat, dan ken ik zo al een stuk of 5 mensen die meteen één bestellen, inclusief mijzelf, dat wordt een bestseller.
Gewoon een motor waarbij het je eigen schuld is als je op je bek gaat, en die daar ook tegen kan.
En dan liefst zonder ABS, ESP, cruise control, rijmodusknoppen, ride-by-wire en dergelijke...
Een simpele hufterproof degelijke twin met een hoop koppel onderin waar je zonder laptop aan kan sleutelen, die op zijn slofjes revisie-loos 2 ton loopt, met een puik veerwerk a la CRF, wat zou dat toch super zijn !!
Kan er niet even iemand een watsapje in het Japans naar Geert Honda sturen !?

Wat zeggen de wijzen uit het Oosten.......dat er eind dit jaar meer te vertellen valt over dat nieuwe apparaat waar jullie allemaal met smart op wachten. Ga ondertussen lekker met jullie alp, twin, dero of andere clubmotorfiets deze zomer lekker touren en modderbaggeren als je dat liever wilt en geniet van hopelijk een mooie zomer. Nostradamus zegt eind van het jaar....................

Twee fannetjes en een klein oliekoelertje. Ziet er allemaal wel redelijk compact uit.

Aan de schematische afbeeldingen te zien lijkt de motor vrij ''kaal'' opgebouwd te worden. Vind ik mooi, niet alles hoeft achter plastic en plaatwerk te zitten. Zoals het prototpe ook al wat liet zien lijkt dit apparaat minder log opgebouwd te zijn als bijvoorbeeld de supertenere, dat slagschip van ktm dat ik op de beurs zag en natuurlijk de bmwees (hoewel ik de 800 ook wel leuk vind).

Dat gaat weer een beetje de goeie kant op

Honda's crossplane crank Africa Twin ready for launch!

Leaked details of Honda’s prototype True Adventure concept suggest it will be called Africa Twin and will feature a new crossplane crank 1000cc motor.

New details of the True Adventure concept, shown at last year’s international motorcycle shows, have now been leaked to Bike Social by numerous sources close to the project.

It looks increasingly more likely the bike will be called Africa Twin after the legendary 650 and 750 twins of the eighties and nineties. When referring to the bike, the Africa Twin name was used by our sources, even though the previous XRV750 Africa Twin road bike was dropped in 2003.

The 1000cc parallel twin version is also expected to use new crossplane crank technology which gives the bike uneven firing intervals, improves traction and gives more character.

The crossplane crank system (whatever Honda has decided to call it) will be a first for Honda, although Yamaha use a similar set-up on the MT-07 and MT-09 range, and also on the YZF-R1.
Honda's XRV750 Africa Twin. It went off sale in 2003.
A new version of Honda’s Dual Clutch Technology (DCT) will also be used on the bike. It’s believed to use a new variation of the system so it stays in gear at low speed. The current system, like the one used on the Honda Crosstourer engages neutral at low-speed and essentially coasts.

The new DCT system improves the bike's ability off-road and plays to Honda’s press release last year which set it up as a true adventure bike that was able to cope off-road.

An advanced range of electronics is also expected to feature the biggest range yet of settings for different riding conditions on an adventure bike. Like the KTM advcenture bikes and BMW GS, the system will allow different levels of sliding, and ABS when on or off-road.

The prototype of the bike first shown at the Milan Show was mud splattered and taken straight out of Honda’s testing programme, stripped of sensors and taken to the show. It was parked next to the NXR 750 Dakar bike (which the Africa Twin road bike was based on), and the CRF450 Rally bike to show its off-road heritage and intent.

Honda Insiders have revealed that a whole host of video promotional films are continuing to be filmed building up the hype for the new bike ready for its release, expected to be at Milan in November.

Three videos have been released so far to build a vision for the bike and reaffirm Honda's off-road and Dakar heritage.

The Africa Twin is back! CRF1000L Africa Twin confirmed for 2015.

Honda is delighted to announce the return of one of motorcycling’s most celebrated and evocative names – the Africa Twin. Having clearly shown the direction of its development and intent with the reveal of the True Adventure prototype at EICMA in November 2014.

Some motorcycles encapsulate perfectly what an adventure motorcycle is all about. The original XRV650 Africa Twin – which debuted in 1988, after the first 3 out of 4 consecutive wins at the Paris-Dakar* – was one such machine. Its go-anywhere ability, rugged durability, easy-handling agility and all-day comfort made it the perfect partner with which to explore. And it helped to define a motorcycling segment that has now grown into one of the most popular worldwide. The new Africa Twin remains true to all the attributes and abilities of the XRV650 and its successor the XRV750, while adding the benefits of everything Honda has learnt on and off-road over the last decade, including Team HRC’s return to the Dakar in 2013**.

Furthermore, in a first for the category, the Africa Twin will feature the option of a new evolution of Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) *** technology, which remains unique to Honda in motorcycling.
